Fiber Arts Show - October 5, 2013



If you haven't had the opportunity to make it out to Longbranch, you are missing out on a beautiful drive and community.  The Longbranch Improvement Club is the hub of the community, and seems to have something going on just about all the time.  From regular club socials, meetings and dances to events like the Annual Old Timer's Day and Logging show, and the 6th Annual Fiber Arts Show. 



We were delighted when they asked if we would be interested in sponsoring the event.  We have been involved with a number of events such as the Drum Festival and the previously mentioned Old Timer's Day and Logging Show back in August. 

Where is Longbranch?  we get this question a lot. 
"Where are you going to be this weekend?"
 " Longbranch...."
"Where is that?  "

Longbranch is on the Key Penninsula, head out to Purdy, cross the spit, and keep driving.  It's about 20 minutes out of Gig Harbor, on the Long Branch of the peninsula.  If you have no business in Longbranch, all the better, because it is an amazing drive.  Beautiful trees, farms, inlets and coves.  The Longbranch Marina is a busy hub of activity year around, but especially during the summer boating season.

The Fiber Arts Show is one stop on the annual Farm Tour of the Key Penninsula area.  Farms, businesses and public services offer open houses throughout the day from 10 am - 6pm. The day starts with a huge pancake breakfast at the Lakebay Fire House and the tour is on. 

The Fiber Arts festival brings in people from all over the state to see the wonderful artisans.  There are weavers of all ages, designers and tradesman.

However, if you get the chance next year, the Hot Apple Cobbler served in the kitchen is worth the drive!

Operation Shore Patrol 2017

pnw4wda.org pnw4wda.org On the third weekend every September the small coastal town of Grayland is invaded by Jeep clubs.  Actually they are invaded by Jeep clubs and bargain hunters, as this weekend is also their 30 miles of Junk sale weekend, but that is not what this is about.  Why you may ask.  Operation Shore Patrol ! Operation Shore Patrol was founded in 1971 by the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association ( PNW4WDA ) and supported by Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, Dept. of Ecology and The Ocean Conservancy, Operation Shore Patrol is an annual clean up of Washington State Coastline beaches.  Through continued support of local regional and national organization this initiative has been able to continually rid our beaches of litter and debris that accumulates from public use, illegal dumping and from the Pacific Ocean. Operation Puppy Drop

Operation Puppy Drop finds a home at Tacoma Subaru. This sweet pup has been learning his manners Tacoma Subaru received an email from a local Guide Dog training club asking if it would be possible to use our facility as puppy drop point.  We of course said yes!, you had us at puppies.  What do you need. The Guide Dogs for the Blind organization (we will explain more about what they do in a moment), brings a van full of puppies up to Washington almost every month and they stop in Tacoma, as a good central point.  Up until now, they usually meet in a random parking lot like Walmart or the Tacoma mall.  This can be a little stressful and chaotic, and they were looking for a better alternative, and thought about Tacoma Subaru since Subaru is well known for their love of animals.  No problem, we are happy to help.  So since October (2017) we have been offering up our facility for them to make their puppy drop, we affectionately call it Operation Puppy Drop.  Since October we h
