JBLM Pampered Spouse Event - 10.6.13

October 5th and 6th were busy for the BTAG team.  We were at the LIC Fiber Arts Show all day Saturday, and then off to St. Martin's Pavilion in Lacey for the Ranger/Airlifter JBLM Pampered Spouse Event.

This annual event is held as a special thank you to the spouses and future spouses of our military personnel.  It is a day of pampering.  Admittedly this event is geared toward the female population, it is open to all spouses and significant others.  The Ranger/Airlifter are the primary coordinators and sponsors of this event with help from local organization such as the Bruce Titus Automotive Group.



The entire event was by RSVP and FREE, those wanting to attend were supposed to pre-register through a special site via the Ranger/Airlifter website.  They had to close it off at 1300 RSVP!  With over a 1000 people on hand (mostly women), they were set for a day of games, contests, fashion shows and pampering.

There were many vendors on hand providing spa services such as facials, make up and massage.  The Olympic Barber College was on hand providing free hair cut and styles for anyone willing to stand in line and get it done.  yes, there were lines.  Lots of lines. But this was no frustrated group of people.  Everyone waited patiently until it was their turn, many of the vendors had free giveaways and raffle drawings. 




BTAG gave out bottled water - a HUGE hit, and wish we had brought more.  Our almost famous lip balm, lot of candy and $50 Restaurant.com gift cards.  It was a lot of fun to chit chat with these spouses and see them have such a good time.

All the while there were several fashion shows, a game show, "the price is correct" and vendors from all over:  schools, independent distributors, dance halls, even Wal Mart was on hand with free bags of goodies.  Although apparently there was a miscommunication in marketing and they heard 100 and not a 1000 so they were out of stuff in about 30 minutes.

It is events like this that make our job so easy.  Being a part of this special day, giving back to our military personnel in some way, and just being a part of these wonderful communities is why it is so easy to get up and out on these weekends for these events.  Thank you for being a part of our community.

Operation Shore Patrol 2017

pnw4wda.org pnw4wda.org On the third weekend every September the small coastal town of Grayland is invaded by Jeep clubs.  Actually they are invaded by Jeep clubs and bargain hunters, as this weekend is also their 30 miles of Junk sale weekend, but that is not what this is about.  Why you may ask.  Operation Shore Patrol ! Operation Shore Patrol was founded in 1971 by the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association ( PNW4WDA ) and supported by Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, Dept. of Ecology and The Ocean Conservancy, Operation Shore Patrol is an annual clean up of Washington State Coastline beaches.  Through continued support of local regional and national organization this initiative has been able to continually rid our beaches of litter and debris that accumulates from public use, illegal dumping and from the Pacific Ocean. Operation Puppy Drop

Operation Puppy Drop finds a home at Tacoma Subaru. This sweet pup has been learning his manners Tacoma Subaru received an email from a local Guide Dog training club asking if it would be possible to use our facility as puppy drop point.  We of course said yes!, you had us at puppies.  What do you need. The Guide Dogs for the Blind organization (we will explain more about what they do in a moment), brings a van full of puppies up to Washington almost every month and they stop in Tacoma, as a good central point.  Up until now, they usually meet in a random parking lot like Walmart or the Tacoma mall.  This can be a little stressful and chaotic, and they were looking for a better alternative, and thought about Tacoma Subaru since Subaru is well known for their love of animals.  No problem, we are happy to help.  So since October (2017) we have been offering up our facility for them to make their puppy drop, we affectionately call it Operation Puppy Drop.  Since October we h
