Port Orchard Ford Fights Hunger in S. Kitsap

Every Fall the Bruce Titus Automotive Group holds a Fall Food Drive to support local Food Banks.  Ultimately our goal is to be one more tool in the fight against hunger in local communities.  However, admittedly this presents an opportunity for a little friendly competition among our locations.

During each food drive we encourage our customers to bring in food with each visit.  For every item they bring, they have the option of submitting their name for a drawing for a variety of prizes. So, we thought, what can we do to encourage our employees to really get behind this.

One of the many collection buckets placed around the dealerships, they would dump them each day into a larger vehicle on the showroom floor.

Please keep in mind, that we have some of the most caring and generous employees, who donate countless volunteer hours and support various local charities, but a little incentive is always nice.

We wanted to build more than just a community activity, but really rally the troops and make this fun for everyone.  We planted the seed.  A little competition is always healthy.  So we decided that the store that brought in the most items (versus lbs), would receive a special store Christmas party, catered from a location of their choosing.

The race was on.  For the last couple of years our Tacoma Subaru location has been the winner.  Last year it was a close race, and they took the prize by only 44 items.  This year, they were determined to maintain their #1 status, but, they didn't see the Port Orchard team coming.

The Port Orchard Ford location has been a close 2nd, and Olympia Chrysler Jeep Mitsubishi and Olympia Nissan were not going to be left behind.   Each store rallied, but again, they underestimated Port Orchard's Ford commitment to their community and their desire to win!  They parked a Ford F150 on the showroom, and said "let's fill it up!"

Port Orchard Ford not only won the inter-company competition but brought in more food all together than our entire food drive in 2012!

So on December 20, 2013, the Port Orchard team feasted on BBQ and Smoked Gouda Cheese nachos from the wonderful McCloud's Grill House in Bremerton.  This was no throw some take out event in the lunch room.  We set those tables up right on the showroom, and the owner of McCloud's Grill House brought the food personally.  There was plenty for left overs and the team gladly shared with customers throughout the day.

All of us at the Bruce Titus Automotive Group want to take this additional opportunity to thank the wonderful communities who were instrumental in helping us give back and making this year the most successful ever.
