Plugged In: Driving change At the Capitol

Plugged In:  Driving Change At the Capitol

On February 25, 2014 Bruce Titus Olympia Nissan and Nissan North America (NNA), teamed up with Western WA Clean Cities to help provide information and drive experience to the Legislators in Olympia and various State Fleet manager.

Western Washington Clean Cities is an organization dedicated to promoting the use of cleaner domestic fuels and efficient vehicles to the transportation industry, government and the general public.  They are a part of a network of more than 80 communities within the US Department of Energy's Clean Cities Program.

In the fair like atmosphere of the event, various hybrid and all electric vehicles were lined up on North Course, and at noon there was even a parade of vehicles past the Capitol steps so all could see the future of transportation.  Electric cars are here!

The Nissan Leaf was not the only vehicle on hand.  There was an electric city bus, which drove up from Oregon.  Imagine how much local transportation could save if they didn't have to buy so much diesel?  Imagine the improvement to air quality with all buses being electric or natural gas?

Other vehicles on hand:  The all electric BMW i3 -, the Ford Fusion Hybrid, The Ford Cmax, and an all electric vehicle from Europe.  Although it had a superior range to other Electric vehicles, it was not compatible with existing charging stations and not very practical.  However, it was a full size vehicle and everyone that drove it, really enjoyed the smooth ride.

The Leaf is always a hit, and if you have never driven one, you should.  It is surprisingly zippy, and enjoyable to drive.

A huge thank you to all of the officials who stopped by and took a test drive, and for the fleet managers who stopped by.  A huge kudos to those agencies who have seen the value of electric and hybrid technology and are giving serious consideration to alternative fuel, hybrid and electric vehicles when it comes time to update their fleet.

Did you know that for many Leaf owners the Leaf is actually a 3rd vehicle?  What?!  I can't afford a 3rd vehicle....that is your first thought.  However, with the money you save in fuel alone can not only justify the Leaf, but pay for it with money to spare.  Schedule a test drive today, and let our Certified Leaf professionals help you figure out how the Leaf can save you money.  Visit OlympiaNissan.com to schedule your unique test drive time today.

Not quite ready to go all - electric.  No problem, the Bruce Titus Port Orchard Ford store has your hook up for Fusion Hybrid and C-max, and coming soon to Tacoma Subaru.....2014 Crosstrek Hybrid!

You Can Count On Us!
